From B&W to Color
When I was very little, maybe around 3-4 years old, and used to watch B&W movies on my colour television I used to think that the world must have been B&W earlier and later it became coloured. It intrigued me a lot to think that how such a change could have come by. The concept of a coloured life was totally acceptable to and I very clearly rememeber seeing a film in which Gandhiji is giving a speech and the crisp white of his dhoti and shawl are very clear in my memory. I used to look at my parents and think and that they must have changed clothes when the world became colored.
Its funny the way colour affects our thoughts. I saw this movie Schindler's List by Steven Spielberg and what I really appreciated that the whole movie was in B&W, if in color I doubt if i would have the courage to watch it. The scene where a one- hand Jew is shot in the head and the blood from his head is flowing into the snow is so pathetic and yet has an appeal to it, does not create and instinct to shut your eyes.
On a similar and more cheerful lines is this blog by Hemanth experimenting with B&W and color. Enjoy !
Salute to a great man !
I saw Schindler's List yestreday and the movie left my mind devastated. The beauty with which the movie potrays the horrific and illogical killings during the World War -2 in the concentration camps is just... well I have no words for it.
This blog is not to give any opinion on what has gone by, it was horrible enough, but it is to salute this great man who saved atleast 1200 jews from a terrible death.
Please read more about him here. Also here is a link of a few more brave people who risked everything to help out people in need during the Holocaust. May God give us all this strength to stand up for the right.

Finally Success !
Hmm ok RTFM and patience are two things which do not help much when you have DSLR. From the time I have got my new camera I have suddenly realized that I am standing in front of a giant castle and all that I have done till now is opened the door.First of all getting used to the weight was a problem, my previous Canon powershot is as light as a feather in comparison and then the next thing is I am never sure what I am focusing. If I want the flower the leaf gets focused, if I want the leaf well don't even ask. The people shots were easy because there is so much to focus upon.
Anyway after 150 attempts this is the best picture I have managed so far.
Patience my little heart , I need atleast 6 months to get pro at this and in between there are so many hurdles for instance my graduation :)

Ode to the most special bond in the world : Brother and Sister
This picture reminds me of the one person who has been the guiding light for me always. My brother :), from the time I remember beginning to sense and understand he has been there for me, carrying me around on his shoulders, talking and laughing with me, playing pranks with me and helping me in every little step that I have taken in my life. I owe my dear dear brother a lot for what I am today, the way I think and speak, the very person I am has a lot to do with his timely and protective advice. So my dear Bhaiya, this sweet picture is for you. The little brother here seems to know that his sister is cranky and he makes up for the picture with his huge smile. He tried a few times to turn her head towards me but after sometime he gave up and just smiled sitting very close to her so that she would know that he around to take care of her.
Simply adorable !

With a twinkle in their eyes !
Ahh the innocence of a child is priceless. Look at them all sitting so happily for a photograph. When I was posting this blog I remembered this beautiful poem of child playing with a broken twig. I stirred my memory for so long to find and finally I found it !PLAYTHINGS
Child, how happy you are sitting in the dust, playing with a broken twig all the morning.
I smile at your play with that little bit of a broken twig.
I am busy with my accounts, adding up figures by the hour.
Perhaps you glance at me and think, "What a stupid game to spoil your morning with!"
Child, I have forgotten the art of being absorbed in sticks and mud-pies.
I seek out costly playthings, and gather lumps of gold and silver.
With whatever you find you create your glad games, I spend both my time and my strength over things I never can obtain.
In my frail canoe I struggle to cross the sea of desire, and forget that I too am playing a game.

ICEBREAKER !

Candy is dandy
But Liquor is quicker!
But Liquor is quicker!
One of my favorite authors Ogden Nash writes on the charms of liquor on loosening up people. I was at a party two nights ago and this picture was taken there. The effect of liquor is amazing, I myself did not get drunk but just had fun watching the others just letting go of themselves and having fun.

Died 1880
I went to the graveyard a few days back thinking that I may take some good shots. It was very quite and depressing mostly. Everywhere I turned I saw loss, some expected and some not. I felt I was intruding in someother world. It just felt weird, anyway I did take a few which struck me as unusual or just interesting. The one above was a grave from 1880 and I just could not resist taking this picture. Most of the other graves were elaborate structures which could be easily read from some distance. The way this grave was broken and forgotten and almost going to fade away made me stop and give it a second look. I was imagining that maybe no one from his family was left anymore to come and put some flowers on his grave or maybe the newer generation did not care.
Death in the family is so depressing, suddenly someone you take for granted is taken away forever and you are left wondering what you could have said or done and now its too late. I like the concept of a graveyard, you go there and in the peace and quite you speak in silence to the ones who are gone hoping they hear you and hoping that someone will do it for you too someday...
